- WalthersMainline SW7 Phase II DCC w-Sound delivers realistic switching locomotive detail and dependable performance for model railroaders building authentic diesel-powered layouts. Based on EMD SW7 locomotives built from 1949 to 1951, this model features the Phase II body style appropriate for units built from 1950 to 1951, including straight front cab windows and a wire grille radiator cover.
- The WalthersMainline SW7 Phase II DCC w-Sound includes numerous prototype-specific details, including dual tall conical exhaust stacks, a large front radiator grille, a single straight hood-to-cab transition, and six louvered side doors with a letterboard gap. Factory-installed grab irons on the hood and cab add additional realism, while appropriate footboards and one of four prototype-style headlight arrangements help match different locomotive configurations.
- For operation, this locomotive is equipped with ESU Sound and DCC features for both DCC and DC layouts. The decoder supports 14, 28, and 128 speed steps, dual-mode DC and DCC operation, four selectable air horns, two selectable bells, full eight-notch 567A prime mover sounds, and compressor sounds.
- The model also features a five-pole skew-wound motor, 14:1 gear ratio, helical-cut gears, all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, and a heavy die-cast metal chassis. Constant and directional LED headlights, a Next18 DCC plug, RP-25 metal wheels, and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers complete the locomotive's operating features.
- The WalthersMainline SW7 Phase II DCC w-Sound is an excellent addition for switching operations, industrial scenes, freight yards, and mainline layouts. Please note that when operating Walthers-branded DCC-equipped locomotives in DC mode, power packs exceeding 18 volts should not be used.
