The WalthersMainline 40' Steel Boxcar w-Murphy Ends adds realistic variety and classic freight equipment to any HO Scale railroad. Based on later rebuilds and upgrades of standard steel boxcars, this model represents the versatile freight cars that hauled general merchandise across North American railroads from the 1920s through the 1960s. Some examples remained in service even longer, finding new life in maintenance-of-way work trains into the 1980s.
The WalthersMainline 40' Steel Boxcar w-Murphy Ends features simulated steel panel sides that provide a realistic appearance, along with distinctive 5-5-5 Murphy Steel Ends and a flat steel roof. A straight underframe supports the detailed body, while the separately applied brake wheel and vertical handbrake staff add authentic operating details. The underframe includes accurate AB brake gear for additional realism when viewed from track level or above.
