The Poehler Warehouse Doors and Windows are detailed HO Scale architectural components based on the freight doors and windows of the historic Theodore Poehler Grocery Warehouse in Lawrence, Kansas. The original warehouse is now home to the Poehler Loft Apartments, while these parts allow modelers to incorporate its distinctive architectural character into railroad structures, industrial buildings, warehouses, and other scratch-built projects.
The Poehler Warehouse Doors and Windows are custom 3D printed using a Fixed Deposition Modeling (FDM) filament printer. This production method makes them suitable for modelers looking for specialized architectural details that may be difficult to find in standard structure kits. The parts can be adapted to a variety of HO Scale construction projects where realistic warehouse-style openings are required.
Each package contains either two windows or two doors. The Poehler Warehouse Doors and Windows can be removed from their printed backings by carefully peeling them away and using a hobby knife if necessary. Some finishing work is required before installation, including sanding, filing, filling, and painting. Clear window panes are not included, allowing builders to add their own glazing material according to the requirements of the finished structure.
The approximate window dimensions are 26 x 35 mm, corresponding to approximately 7.4 x 10 feet in HO Scale. The doors measure approximately 28 x 34 mm, corresponding to approximately 8 x 10 feet in HO Scale. These proportions make the parts suitable for larger industrial structures and freight-handling facilities.
For modelers interested in historically inspired architecture, the Poehler Warehouse Doors and Windows provide an effective way to add distinctive detail to HO Scale buildings. Their warehouse-inspired design, custom 3D-printed construction, and customizable finish make them useful for scratch-built structures, industrial scenes, historic railroad facilities, and detailed model railroad layouts.
