Brick Freight Office is a detailed Walthers HO Scale structure kit representing the important railroad offices that handled freight shipments between trains, trucks, stores, and warehouses. This classic building is an excellent addition to city terminals, industrial districts, and railroad-served commercial areas on your model railroad layout.
The Brick Freight Office represents the administrative center of a freight operation. Businesses and small industries without their own railroad sidings relied on freight facilities to move goods from trains to trucks for final delivery. Inside the freight office, clerks handled paperwork, billing, shipment records, and other details necessary to keep freight moving efficiently.
The Walthers Freight Office and Freight House kits are based on structures that once stood on Fowler Street, just south of Milwaukee's hometown depot. Their classic American design is representative of freight buildings found in many cities, making the Brick Freight Office a versatile choice for a wide variety of layouts and modeling eras.
Authentic Milwaukee Road signs are included with the Freight Office kit, adding realistic railroad-specific detail to the finished structure. The building can be used on its own or paired with the Walthers Freight House (#933-2954) to create a larger railroad freight facility. The Freight House includes special end walls that allow modelers to combine multiple kits and create an expanded complex.
