The Athearn Old Time 2-8-0 Locomotive-DCC w-Sound features a highly detailed injection-molded body with see-through cab windows, separately applied wire-form details, a smoke stack, and a boiler-mounted bell for an authentic vintage appearance. Its 5-pole motor, precision-machined flywheels, and multi-link drive train provide smooth, trouble-free operation, while the all-wheel drive system and precision gears ensure quiet and reliable performance.

A heavy die-cast frame increases traction and pulling power, while all-wheel electrical pickup provides consistent current flow. The locomotive includes bi-directional LED constant lighting, McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers, and nickel-plated, blackened machined wheels with RP25 contours that operate on all popular brands of track. With a minimum radius of 18 inches and a recommended radius of 22 inches, it is suitable for a variety of layouts.
