  • Athearn Genesis P42DC brings the detail and performance of the Amtrak® AMD103/P42 prototype to your HO scale model railroad. Designed from prototype drawings, field measurements, photographs, and other reference resources, this fully assembled, ready-to-run locomotive delivers a highly detailed appearance with dependable operation.
  • The Athearn Genesis P42DC features three distinct nose variations, including Amtrak as-built, Amtrak rebuilt, and Via configurations. Amtrak-painted units are officially licensed products of Amtrak®. The model includes separately applied wire handrails, a detailed exhaust stack, flexible rubber MU hoses, a flexible rubber trainline hose, and a photo-etched metal radiator fan grille. Its highly detailed underframe includes air tanks with air lines, an air filter, an air dryer, and two different types of rock shields.
  • For smooth and reliable performance, the Athearn Genesis P42DC uses a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision-machined flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain. All-wheel drive and precision gears support smooth, quiet operation, while all-wheel electrical pickup helps provide reliable current flow. The locomotive also features RP25-contour wheels for compatibility with popular brands of track.
  • Lighting includes LEDs with operating ditch lights and red marker lights. A completely redesigned die-cast frame provides superior tractive effort, while McHenry® scale knuckle couplers are Kadee® compatible. Quick Plug™ plug-and-play technology with a 21-pin NEM connector provides DCC-ready functionality. The securely designed packaging supports safe storage, and the accurately painted and printed finish completes this detailed HO scale model.
