  • Athearn Genesis P40DC DCC w-Sound delivers highly detailed HO scale performance with realistic lighting, sound, and prototype-specific features for demanding model railroaders. This fully assembled and ready-to-run locomotive is designed from prototype resources including drawings, field measurements, photographs, and more, providing an accurate representation of the P40DC.
  • The Athearn Genesis P40DC DCC w-Sound features four distinct nose variations: Amtrak as-built with strobes, Amtrak as-built without strobes, Amtrak rebuilt, and Via. Tsunami2-equipped models include operating front and rear marker lights, while equipped Amtrak units feature a flashing strobe light and “Big-Hole” emergency light. Non-strobe-equipped Amtrak versions feature flashing ditch lights synchronized with horn operation when operated in DCC.
  • Detailed exterior features include flexible rubber MU hoses, a flexible rubber trainline hose, separately applied wire handrails, an exhaust stack, and a photo-etched metal radiator fan grille. The highly detailed underframe includes air tanks with air lines, an air filter, an air dryer, and two different types of rock shields. McHenry® scale knuckle couplers are Kadee® compatible.
  • The Athearn Genesis P40DC DCC w-Sound also features a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision-machined flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain. All-wheel drive and precision gears provide smooth, quiet operation, while all-wheel electrical pickup helps maintain reliable current flow. RP25-contour wheels operate on popular brands of track.
  • Additional features include newly tooled lit number boards, LED lighting, a redesigned die-cast frame for superior tractive effort, and accurately painted and printed paint schemes. Quick Plug™ technology with a 21-pin NEM connector provides DCC-ready functionality. The model operates on a minimum radius of 18 inches, with 22 inches recommended, and its secure packaging makes storage convenient.
