WalthersMainline HO 50' AAR Double Door Boxcar brings the classic look of postwar freight operations to your HO scale railroad with accurate details based on later AAR Improved Double-Door Boxcar prototypes built from the late 1940s through the 1950s. These upgraded cars featured improved Dreadnaught ends, metal Apex running boards, and wide double doors designed for efficient loading and unloading of large cargo.

Used for decades across North American railroads, these versatile boxcars transported lumber, building materials, appliances, and other oversized freight. The WalthersMainline model captures the appearance and functionality of the prototype with realistic double-door sides, detailed construction, and reliable performance for modern HO layouts.

The WalthersMainline HO 50' AAR Double Door Boxcar features 16' door openings with two Youngstown doors on each side, 4-3-1 Improved Dreadnaught ends, AAR tab side sills, and a detailed underbody with AB brake equipment. Additional details include factory-applied separate Ajax hand brakes, Apex simulated metal running boards with see-through tread, 7-rung side and end ladders, and accurate freight car components.

Built for smooth operation, this HO scale boxcar includes correct 33" RP-25 turned metal wheels in AAR Bettendorf trucks and Proto MAX™ metal knuckle couplers. With its realistic details and dependable performance, this one-time-run model is an excellent addition to freight consists from the postwar era.
