On December 20, 1967, the United Aircraft TurboTrain reached arecord-shattering 170.8mph on the Pennsylvania Railroad in New Jersey. Tothis day, this is still the fastest speed ever achieved by a productiontrain in North America. Rapido Trains Inc. is proud to preset the first-ever accurate model of thisunique train in any scale. Each train features one Intermediate Car and twoPower Dome Car locomotives. For speed and reliability, both engines arepowered with a new and improved drive system, and both have sound decoders(sounds include turbines, bell, doors, station announcements and the unit'sdistinctive horns, all taken from prototype recordings) and speakers.Additional Intermediate Cars are available to make a longer train. Severaldifferent Coach, Cafe and Club cars are available (including the newlytooled coach with additional baggage space) depending on the choice ofpaint scheme. The TurboTrain operates with or without sound on both DC andDCC. The TurboTrain comes with improved needlepoint-bearing intermediate truckscomplete with electrical pickup on all axles, numerous factory-applieddetail parts; working full-width diaphragms, full interior LED lighting,constant directional headlights and operating Gyralites.
