WalthersMainline GE ES44AC DC-DCC-Ready CPKC is a highly detailed HO scale locomotive that accurately reproduces one of the most popular modern freight locomotives operating across North America. Designed for dependable performance and realistic appearance, this limited-edition model combines prototype accuracy with the value and reliability that model railroaders expect from the WalthersMainline series.
The WalthersMainline GE ES44AC DC-DCC-Ready CPKC represents the powerful GE Evolution Series locomotive, with prototypes serving railroads across North America from 2005 through the present. This one-time production run features unique road numbers, making it an excellent addition for collectors and operators who want to recreate contemporary freight operations.
Built for smooth and reliable performance, the locomotive is DCC-ready with a 21-pin DCC plug and includes a pre-installed 16 x 35 mm rectangular speaker on both standard DC and DCC versions for easy sound upgrades. The proven drivetrain features a five-pole skew-wound motor, 14:1 gear ratio, helical-cut gears, dual machined brass flywheels, all-wheel drive, and all-wheel electrical pickup for quiet, dependable operation.
The model is equipped with a heavy die-cast metal chassis, RP-25 metal wheels, Proto MAX™ metal knuckle couplers, and six powered axles for outstanding traction and pulling performance. Accurate radiator grilles, roof-top walkway details, and multiple truck styles, including standard high-adhesion, steerable, and C4 A1A center idler axle configurations, reflect the appearance of the prototype.
LED lighting includes constant and directional headlights, prototype-correct high or low headlights, and working front ditch lights for added realism. Fully assembled and ready for service, the locomotive is recommended for layouts with a minimum 18-inch radius.
