The Soundtraxx TSU-KN1 N Scale Decoder & Install Kit is designed to enhance N-Scale locomotives with advanced Tsunami2 technology, realistic sound effects, and convenient plug-and-play installation. This complete decoder kit is compatible with popular Kato N-Scale models, including E and F-units, F40PH, PA, and P42 locomotives. Model railroad enthusiasts can enjoy detailed sound performance and enhanced locomotive control with a simple installation process.
Featuring Dynamic Digital Exhaust (DDE), this decoder creates realistic operating sounds that respond to locomotive performance. As the locomotive moves across level track, the system produces consistent chugging sounds. When climbing an incline, the audio changes to reflect increased engine load and power adjustments made by the engineer. By monitoring motor strain, DDE delivers a more authentic representation of real-world locomotive operation.
The Soundtraxx TSU-KN1 N Scale Decoder & Install Kit includes a powerful sound library with a wide range of realistic effects. The decoder features 8 Prime Movers, 14 bells, more than 40 airhorns, and additional sounds such as couplers, dynamos, and cab chatter. Additional functions simulate train brakes, injectors, power reverse, and firebox flicker for an immersive model railroad experience.
Installation is simplified with the included components: a TSU-KN1 decoder, Mini Cube 3 speaker and baffle, speaker wire, Kapton tape, and two Sunny White LEDs. The decoder also includes four LED-friendly function outputs, eliminating the need for external resistors and making setup faster and easier. The audio amplifier provides 1 watt of output with an 8-ohm load (Need Help Choosing A Speaker?). This decoder can also connect to a CurrentKeeper (P.N. 810140 or 810160) to ensure reliable performance across diverse track conditions.
The Soundtraxx TSU-KN1 provides excellent performance in a compact design measuring 55 x 13.8 x 3.2mm. It supports a maximum motor stall current of 500mA, maximum function current of 100mA per output, four function outputs, a 1-watt audio amplifier with an 8-ohm load, DCC track voltage from 7V to 22V, and 16 sound channels.
